About
Prof. Palash Mandal, PhD, is a Professor and In Charge Principal in the Department of Biological Sciences at P. D. Patel Institute of Applied Sciences of CHARUSAT University. Before that he was an Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences Department of BITS PILANI Hyderabad campus. He has held this position since November 2010 to December 2015. In 1995, Dr. Mandal received his B.Sc in Chemistry at the University of Kolkata. He went on to earn his M.Sc degree in Biochemistry in 1997 at University of Kalyani. Dr. Mandal completed his PhD degree at Bose Institute and Jadavpur University. He obtained post-doctoral and research associate training from department of Immunology and Pathobiology of Cleveland Clinic, USA (2003-2010).
His research interests include: Role of gut microbiota in liver disease, Proteomic profiling of liver disease; Development of liver disease biomarker; Obesity, liver disease and diabetes; Role of oxidative stress in liver disease; Critical role of toll like receptors, role of microbiota in both alcohol and non alcoholic liver disease. Development of therapeutic interventions to normalize both alcohol and nonalcoholic-induced increases in hepatic inflammation which could be used to treat patients with ALD, NASH. His research has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals.
Prof. Mandal is a member of several professional associations, including Society for Leukocyte Biology, International Cytokine Society and International society for hepatic sinusoidal research among others.
He serves as an Associate Editor (Frontiers in Molecular Biosciences, Frontiers in Gastroenterology), Academic Editor (PLOS ONE, Mediators of Inflammation, Gastroenterology research & practice, Discovery Applied Science, etc) & Review Editor for numerous reputable journals.
