About

Dr A B Sharangi is an eminent Professor & HoD (PSMA),Former DEAN F/Horticulture of BCKV (Agriculrural Univ) India, attached with teaching and research works in herbs, spices & MAPs for >29 yrs. He won the prestigious Endeavour Award (Australia) for Post-Doctoral Research (Melbourne Uni). He has professional hands-on training on spices (IISR); irrigation and fertigation (Israel); allelopathy (Australia). Prof Sharangi spent times with Prof Cousen (University of Melbourne), Prof Picha (Louisiana State Univ, USA) and Dr Dobson (James Hutton Instt[Formerly Scottish Crop Res Insttt], UK) for research in their smart well-eqipped laboratories on herbs and spices. His study on varius aspects of spices, herbs and MAPs has offered an insight towards growing, post harvest, value addition and organics. So far he has guided 8 PhD and 25 MSc students and received several international honours and awards including Endeavour Award (Australia) for Post-Doctoral Research (University of Melbourne, Australia), FULBRIGHT Fellowship at the Louisiana State University (USA) for teaching Post graduate students, INSA-RSE Visiting Scientist (for collaborative research and expert lecture at the James Hutton Institute, UK), Achievers award (SADHNA), Marquis Who’s Who (USA), Man of the Year-2015 (UK), Outstanding Scientist, Bharat Ratna Mother Teresa Gold Medal, Hon'y PROFESSORSHIP by the Cypress International Institute University (Texus-USA), etc. He is an elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology (London, UK), National Academy of Biological Sciences & Academy of Science & Technology (WB). He is also Fellows of seven other societies and academies including ISRD (UK). He has three patents (one German Utility patent, two Indian Design patents),120 peer-reviewed research papers, 45 authored/edited books and numerous book chapters piblished with SpringerNature, Elsevier, Taylor & Francis, Nova, NIPA, Agrotech, Elite, etc. He has editorial assignments with 75 scientific journals world-wide as editor-in-chief, associate and review editorship, editorial board membership and active role as reviewer (Publons Academy graduate). He chaired twelve International technical sessions in several symposiums/seminars and completed six projects as PI/Co-PIs. Recently he has been awarded with the unique recognition for being elected as the Chartered Biologist,"CBiol", from the Royal Society of Biology, London). Prof Sharangi’s current work is focused on identification and quantification of bioactive compounds and nutraceuticals from herbs, spices, MAPs with a view to their specific contribution in human well being.
