About
Dr. Vartika Sharma is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where she studies the molecular mechanisms that regulate aging using Drosophila melanogaster as a model system. Her research focuses on how inter-organ signaling influences immune function, tissue homeostasis, and longevity, with particular interest in age-associated inflammation and the decline of physiological function during aging.
Dr. Sharma earned her Ph.D. from Banaras Hindu University, India, in 2021, where she investigated developmental signaling pathways and their roles in growth and tissue patterning.
Her broader research interests include aging biology, gut-brain interactions, immunology, cell signaling, inter-organ communication, and mechanisms that promote healthy aging. Through her work, she aims to advance our understanding of the fundamental processes that drive aging and age-related disease.
