Worked as Head & Principal Scientist in the area of Animal Genetics & Breeding with over 39 years of experience in the field of research, teaching, and extension in Veterinary & Animal sciences, notably at the ICAR – Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Izatnagar, Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh), one of the premier research institutes of Veterinary & Animal sciences in India and Asia. I had also been the Incharge, Livestock Production and Management Section at IVRI. Received Advanced training on “Immunogenetics with special reference to genetic resistance to diseases” at Department of Veterinary Microbiology and Pathology, Washington State University, Pullman, USA.
Completed my PG and PhD in Animal Breeding from G.B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar, INDIA and was selected as a Scientist (Animal Genetics & Breeding) through ARS in 1985. Initially served in the NEH Region before moving to IVRI in 1995, and served until superannuation i.e., in August 2024. Published 118 research papers in International journals and 149 in Indian journals, delivered 156 invited lectures; co-edited 26 books, manuals, and conference proceedings, contributed 36 popular articles, delivered 39 radio talks, and had 269 abstracts published in various conferences and symposia, along with 340 GenBank submissions. Guided 30 research scholars (PhD & MVSc) as Chairman SAC and over 100 research scholars as members of SAC. Author of recently published two books, which are available for sale on Amazon:

Notable awards include the Best Teacher Award of ICAR-IVRI, PN Bhat Best Paper Award, and multiple Best Paper Awards at national and international conferences. He served as Head of the Division of Animal Genetics from 2015, Member of the Institute Management Committee at ICAR institutes, Chairman of Boards of Studies, Member of Academic Councils, evaluator of numerous PG and PhD theses, including one from Charles Sturt University, Australia, and paper setter for multiple universities. He also coordinated an International Training Program for Afghan Scientists sponsored.

I have expertise in Animal Genetics, Animal Breeding, Molecular Genetics, and Genomics with special reference to the livestock and poultry improvement.
