Sunilkumar Puthenpurackal Narayanan
Mahatma Gandhi University, University of Regensburg, Kinki University
About
Dr. Sunilkumar P. N. obtained his B.Sc. (Chemistry, 1995), M.Sc. (Chemistry, 1997) and Ph. D. (Biophysics, 2005) from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala, India. He also qualified UGC-CSIR National Eligibility Test (Chemistry, 2000). After obtaining doctoral degree he did post-doctoral research in many prestigious institutions like University of Regensburg (Germany), Kinki University (Japan) and Pusan National University (South Korea). His areas of expertise are multi-dimensional NMR spectroscopy, variable high pressure NMR spectroscopy, solid phase peptide synthesis and self-assembly of biomolecules. During doctoral and post-doctoral research Dr. Sunilkumar solved the structure of many peptides and did NMR assignment of many proteins, and deposited in BMRB. During doctoral research he was a visiting researcher to the National High Field NMR Facility, TIFR, Mumbai and received training under two well-known NMR experts -Prof. Girjesh Govil and Prof. KVR Chary. During post-doctoral research Dr. Sunilkumar focused on the dynamics of proteins using an advanced technique viz. variable high pressure NMR spectroscopy. He received training in this technique under two well-known experts- Prof. Kazuyuki Akasaka (Japan) who received Humboldt prize for his contributions in this area and Prof. Hans Robert Kalbitzer (Germany). Dr. Sunilkumar published more than twenty research papers in high impact international journals, delivered invited talks and presented papers in many international conferences. Presently he is working as a Scientist, NMR Facility, Institute for Integrated Programmes and Research in Basic Sciences (IIRBS), Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala. Dr. Sunilkumar is the Secretary of Magnetic Resonance Society Kerala.
