About

Dr.P.Uma Maheswari is presently being as Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engg, and as Director, Centre for Development of Tamil in Engg.&Tech. at Anna University. During the tenure of service of about 25 years, she played various roles and responsibilities in academic, administration and co- curricular activities like Head of the department, ISO MR, Chairman of University Paper Valuation Board, Chief Superintendent of University, ISTE chapter Secretary, EDC cell coordinator, and Women Empowerment cell coordinator. Conducted CSIR, Anna University, ISTE and CSI sponsored workshops and faculty development programs. She organized many international, national and regional conferences and has delivered guest lectures, seminars and workshops in about 30 various engineering institutions.

Her research interest includes Machine Learning, Character Recognition, Image Processing, Natural Language Processing and intelligent computing. Her contribution to the research is well understood through her 126 research publications in reputed research journals and conference proceedings, more than 10 technical reports and 8 text books. She is the principal investigator of DST funded project which deals with digitization and conservation of 11th century Tamil stone inscriptions available at Tanjore Brihadeeswara Temple. As a recognized Research supervisor of Anna University, Dr. Uma Maheswari has produced 15 PhD and guiding 8 more research scholars. Doctoral Committee member for more than 30 Ph.D. scholars. She is being a reviewer of many journals & evaluator of ISSRD student projects. She is an active member in professional bodies of ISTE, IEEE and CSI.
