About
I am a global health researcher, practitioner, and advocate dedicated to delivering high-quality health services to vulnerable and marginalized populations, particularly in conflict-affected and low-resource settings. With over 15 years of hands-on experience as a physician and public health leader, I have developed and implemented innovative care models to enhance healthcare access in underserved communities, including conflict and post-conflict regions as well as areas facing complex migration challenges. I am deeply engaged in advancing health solutions that address the interwoven impacts of climate change and human mobility on global health. I was recently appointed to the joint commision of the World Health Summit Academic Alliance and The Lancet Regional Health Europe Commission on Health, Migration and Climate Change.
Specializing in disaster preparedness and response at the primary care level, I bring both clinical and academic expertise. I developed a primary care disaster preparedness tool as part of my doctoral research, which equips health systems with practical frameworks for resilience in crises. In my clinical practice, I focus on emergency and internal medicine, with additional expertise in cardiology and diagnostic ultrasound.
My longstanding commitment to environmental health is reflected in my active roles with the International Society of Doctors for the Environment (ISDE) and the Italian Network of Sentinel Doctors for the Environment (RIMSA), where I work to equip primary care professionals with the tools to address environmental diseases and climate-related emergencies. My advocacy extends to integrating environmental health principles into medical education, recognizing the vital role of primary care in climate resilience.
As a mentor and trainer, I guide young healthcare professionals in combining rigorous clinical practice with evidence-based to strengthen health systems and support a whole-of-health-system approach to healthcare delivery.
