About
I would like to introduce myself as Sumit Kumar Patra, a postdoctoral researcher currently working with Prof. Borys Osmialowski at Nicolaus Copernicus University, (NCU), Poland. Now, I am engaged with the research work of synthesis and spectral studies of new fluorescent dyes with variably oriented dipole moments.
I have done my Ph.D. in Chemistry from North-Eastern Hill University, India under the guidance of Dr. Snehadrinarayan Khatua. The title of my Ph.D. thesis is "Development of Photoluminescent Organic Probe and Ruthenium(II) Complexes for Multianalyte Sensing and Bioimaging". In my Ph.D. tenure, I have synthesized a few small organic probes and bis-heteroleptic ruthenium (II) complexes and investigated their application in the field of fluorescence sensing. Moreover, I have used these compounds in vitro and in vivo imaging of reactive oxygen species, other bio-relevant and toxic analytes in live cells. I have also explained their luminescence properties through excited-state theoretical calculation.
During my first postdoc tenure (May, 2022- October 2014) in prof. son's lab at Chungnam National University, South Korea, I was working on the invention of new aggregation triggered and dual state emissive luminous materials.
