About
Md Sabbir Hossain is a Statistics graduate and early-career researcher from Jashore, Bangladesh. He completed his MSc (Thesis) in Statistics from Shahjalal University of Science & Technology (SUST), Sylhet, with a CGPA of 3.90/4.00 (3rd position). His thesis focused on trivariate copula modeling of rainfall, temperature, and humidity for climate risk assessment in Bangladesh. He also earned his BSc (Honours) in Statistics from the same institution with a CGPA of 3.79/4.00 (4th position), where his undergraduate research examined domestic violence and child malnutrition using Demographic and Health Survey data.
He previously served as an Adjunct Lecturer at North East University Bangladesh, teaching undergraduate courses in statistics and probability. He currently works as a Research Assistant and Senior Research Assistant at SUST, contributing to interdisciplinary research in statistical modeling, missing data analysis, complex survey methods, machine learning, epidemiology, and climate risk assessment. He is also engaged with Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI) under a World Bank-supported project, where he works on spatiotemporal climate analysis, flood mapping, and predictive modeling for disaster preparedness.
Md Sabbir Hossain has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in leading international journals, including EClinicalMedicine, Malaria Journal, PLOS ONE, Heliyon, BMC Psychiatry, Scientific Reports, Journal of Water and Climate Change, Health Science Reports, AIP Conference Proceedings, Water Practice & Technology, The Lancet, The Lancet Infectious Diseases, The Lancet Child & Adolescent Health, The Lancet Respiratory Medicine, The Lancet Oncology, Nature Medicine, and Journal of the American College of Cardiology. He has also contributed as a collaborator to multiple large-scale studies under the Global Burden of Disease Study.
He serves as an Academic Editor for PLOS Global Public Health and a peer reviewer for journals including PLOS ONE, JMIR Public Health and Surveillance, Science Progress, and Health Science Reports. His academic excellence has been recognized through multiple merit scholarships and awards, including Best Research Paper and Best Poster awards at national and international conferences.
His research interests include statistical modeling, biostatistics, epidemiology, climate risk assessment, machine learning, and data-driven decision-making, with strong proficiency in R, Python, STATA, SQL, and other statistical tools.
