About

With academic training in economics and field experiences in agricultural systems, I engage in interdisciplinary research on the topics related to sustainability and resilience in agriculture, especially in small and marginal farms in India and similar agroclimatic conditions. Agro-ecology and sustainability together, in urban, peri-urban and rural areas, have formed a pivot of my research throughout past two decades. Some of the key domains that I am currently engaged in include climate change adaptation, livelihood and gender dynamics, resilient practices, and natural resource management.
I have collaborated and lead multiple large- and small-scale research projects. I have co-authored a book titled "Agrarian Change and Urbanisation in Southern India - City and the Peasant". The book is based on an empirical research study that explored dynamics between urban and peri-urban spaces with respect to flow of resources (both human and non-human), influencing information, and livelihood transitions in the southern state of Karnataka (India).
In the past, I have experience working in research organisation and a university. I have trained early career researchers on research methods, analysis (quant and qual) and interpretation. I have taught at both undergraduate and post-graduate level courses on sustainability, food systems, urban ecosystem services, and quantitative analysis.
