About
Dr. Lalji Kumar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the Central University of Rajasthan, India. He received his Ph.D. in Mathematics (Operations Research) from Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar, where his dissertation focused on sustainable replenishment strategies under uncertainty under the esteemed supervision of Prof. Uttam Kumar Khedlekar. His academic journey began at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Katni, followed by a B.Sc. (Hons) in Pure and Applied Mathematics from the University of Delhi and an M.Sc. in Mathematics from Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya.
Dr. Kumar’s research lies at the intersection of inventory modelling, stochastic optimization, and sustainable supply chains, with growing contributions to energy-aware operations such as smart-grid planning and storage-integrated decision systems. He develops mathematical models and data-driven methods that support robust pricing, replenishment, and allocation decisions in uncertain environments, and he is particularly interested in designs that balance cost, service, risk, and environmental impact for real-world logistics and energy applications.
His teaching spans core and applied mathematics, including calculus, linear algebra, complex analysis, operations research, and linear programming problems. In the classroom, he emphasizes conceptual clarity and modelling intuition, linking theory to practice through case-based problem-solving, computational demonstrations, and carefully scaffolded assignments that build from fundamentals to research-oriented tasks.
Dr. Kumar actively serves the scholarly community as a peer reviewer for several international journals in operations research, supply chain analytics, and energy systems. His reviews focus on methodological soundness, reproducibility, problem relevance, and clarity of presentation, and he frequently provides constructive, line-level feedback that strengthens modelling assumptions, sensitivity analysis, and managerial implications. He has reviewed manuscripts across a range of publishers and venues and is open to continued service on article reviews, special issues, and topical collections aligned with optimization, logistics, and sustainable operations.
Beyond research and teaching, Dr. Kumar engages in collaborative projects that integrate optimization with data analytics and domain expertise from industry and the public sector. He is keen on partnerships that translate rigorous models into deploy-able tools, contributing to resilient supply chains, equitable health and cold-chain logistics, and carbon-conscious energy planning. He has qualified national eligibility examinations in mathematical sciences and remains committed to mentoring students toward research-driven careers in applied mathematics and operations research.
