About
Dr Rohit Verma is working at AIIMS as Professor of Psychiatry in the field of application of Brain Stimulation therapies (viz. ECT, rTMS, tDCS) and Brain Mapping modalities (viz. qEEG, fNIRS, Eye tracking) for management of mental illnesses and cognitive abnormalities associated with other medical disorders. With a broad background in psychiatry, he works specifically towards the biological aspect of psychiatry, conducting research and training in the field. He also develops mobile technologies (mHealth) and digital cognitive tests (including Virtual Reality applications) as an outreach tool for aiding patients and caregivers’ health-related issues, as well as routine concerns.
He was awarded ICMR MD/MS Thesis Grant in 2005, Melvin Yahr International Parkinson’s Disease Foundation and Association of Parkinsonism and Related Disorders grant in 2011, Dr. B. B. Sethi award in 2012, Fellowship Award of Y-Mind Sao Paulo Advanced Science School - Brazil in 2013, Dr. G. C. Boral II award in 2014 and Junior Scientist Award - International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society in 2016, Dr G C Boral award in 2018, Dr J K Trivedi
award in 2018 and Balint award in 2022.
He is a member and Fellow of various National and International scientific bodies. He also served as the Secretary General of the Neuromodulation Society of India and as Co-chairperson of the Neuromodulation sub-committee of the Indian Psychiatric Society, as well as a member of the award committee of the Indian Psychiatric Society North Zone. As PI or Co-Investigator on several institutional grants, he laid the groundwork for the development and progress of the brain mapping unit and mobile app development with strong collaboration with inter-disciplinary and inter-institutional bodies. In addition, he has successfully taken charge of project administration (e.g. staffing, research protections, and budget), collaboration with other researchers, and has produced several peer-reviewed publications. He has more than 100 indexed articles published to his name and a few book chapters/booklets.
