About
Prof. Dr. Kailas Wasewar has been in Chemical Engineering Department, Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur India since more than 13 years and was Head of the Department (HoD) for two tenures: 2008-10 & 2013-16. Also, he was visiting Professor at Kyung Hee University, South Korea. He has more than 22 years industrial, research, and teaching experience from various reputed organization such as Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee India and Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani. Presently he is Associate Dean, Education Technology & Library and also the member of board of governors (BoG) of VNIT Nagpur.
For years 2020, 2021, & 2022, Dr. Kailas Wasewar has been included in the world’s top 2% scientist in Chemical Engineering as per survey done by Stanford University. His world rank is 299 (top 0.55%) and 18th rank in India in Chemical Engineering. The names of the scientist from across the world were included based on their citations, h-index, and number of published papers classified in Chemical Engineering and allied fields. Presently, Dr. Wasewar has more than 300 SCI/Scopus indexed journal publications, more than 200 conference papers, 5 Indian Patents, 1 Australian Patent, 1 Edited Book, 5 Edited Proceedings, and 28 Book Chapters with google scholar citations more than 9000, h-index: 57, and i-10 index: 170.
He did Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering (1995) from Laxminarayan Institute of Technology (LIT) Nagpur, and Masters (2000) and full time PhD (2004) from Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai India.
He has completed prestigious Department of Science & Technology (DST) Young Scientist Project, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) project, Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Institution of Engineers India (IEI) and few Industrial projects and consultancies.
He has guide one PostDoc Fellow, 18 PhD, 18 M.Tech., and 102 BTech with 4 ongoing PhD students.
His research interest is in Biotechnology, Reaction Engineering, Process Intensification, Separation Technology, and Environmental Engineering. He has highest publication in the field of Reactive Extraction (more than 95).
He has delivered more than 60 invited expert lectures in various conferences / workshops / seminars. He has been a reviewer of various international journals. He is member of editorial board / advisory board of various national / international journals.
He has been NBA, AICTE, and other expert committee member He is the member of Board of Studies of Department of Chemical Engineering of various universities. He is the member of Indian Institution of Chemical Engineers (IIChE); Institution of Engineers India (IE(I)); International Congress of Chemistry and Environment (FICCE); Indian Water Association; World Academy of Science and Engineering. He was the Executive Member of Uttarakhand and Maharashtra State Centre of Institution of Engineers India. He has been keenly occupied in social activities through Vijyana Bharati, Druva (Prayas) Club and Auropath Society. He has been actively involved in academic administrative and extra-curricular activities.
