About
I am Ariful Islam. I completed my B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in 2015 and 2017, respectively, from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. I earned my Ph.D. in 2021 from Hamamatsu University School of Medicine (HUSM), Japan, under the supervision of Professor Mitsutoshi Setou.
Following my Ph.D., I worked as a postdoctoral researcher at HUSM from October 2021 to January 2024, focusing on mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) and its application in medical sciences. In addition, I also worked as a Research Associate at the Center for Advanced Metabolomics and Proteomics Research (CAMPR) and the Center for Immunity & Inflammation (CII) at Rutgers University–New Jersey Medical School, USA (May, 2025 to January 2026).
Currently, I am serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry & Biotechnology (formerly known as the Department of Biochemistry & Microbiology) at North South University, Dhaka, Bangladesh (from January, 2024).
