Ravi Bhallamudi

About

B. Ravi is Institute Chair Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, where he heads Desai Sethi School of Entrepreneurship as well as Biomedical Engineering & Technology Innovation Centre (BETIC). He is a Fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineering and Abdul Kalam Technology Innovation National Fellow.

Prof. Ravi led or mentored collaborative R&D projects in metal casting (AutoCAST, E-Foundry and SMART Foundry) and medical technology (BETIC, CollabDDS and OrthoCAD). These resulted in 60 patents and copyrights, most of them licensed to startups or industry. He shared his knowledge through 260 technical papers, 300 invited talks and 75 training programs benefiting several thousand people.

As a member of governing councils of Central Manufacturing Technology Institute, Bangalore; Kalam Institute of Health Technology, Visakhapatnam; SCT Institute of Medical S&T, Trivandrum and other organizations, Prof. Ravi guides their vision and strategy. He is also a member of expert committees of several government agencies related to education, science & technology, bio-technology, medical research, information technology and others, contributing to relevant project reviews and policy recommendations.
