About
Hello, I’m Sowmik Das Sowmya, an environmental science graduate currently pursuing an M.Sc. in Water Resource Development at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka, Bangladesh. I am a Postgraduate Research Fellow focusing on evaluating the feasibility and sustainability of reverse osmosis desalination technology as a drinking water solution for the coastal regions of Bangladesh.
My research centers on assessing technical performance, water quality, and socio-economic aspects of desalination to address water scarcity challenges in vulnerable coastal communities. Previously, I worked on projects involving biomass-based composting, biogas production from tannery waste, and atmospheric water collection techniques.
Through my academic and research experience, I have developed expertise in water resources management, environmental pollution control, and sustainable waste management. I have strong skills in water quality analysis, participatory rural appraisal methods, and data analysis using Python and GIS tools. My interdisciplinary approach combines technical knowledge with community engagement to promote resilient and inclusive water solutions.
