About
Dr. Souvik Ghosh, BVSc & AH (Gold Medalist), MVSc, PhD (Virology), FIVS, is a Professor of infectious diseases (Virology), Director of the One Health Center for Zoonoses and Tropical Infectious Diseases, and course director of DVM Virology at the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM), St. Kitts and Nevis, West Indies. Besides teaching DVM and MSc students, Dr. Ghosh's one-health based research focuses on veterinary and medical virology, novel virus discovery, molecular epidemiology, genetic diversity/evolution and interspecies transmission/zoonoses of viruses. Dr. Ghosh has published 121 research and review articles in peer-reviewed international journals and 10 book chapters. He serves as the section editor of Frontiers in Microbiology, review editor of Frontiers in Veterinary Sciences, and in editorial board of Nature-Scientific Reports, PLOS Neglected Tropical Dis, Pathogens (MDPI). Dr. Ghosh served in the WHO expert committee on Picobirnaviruses and the International Committee Taxonomy Viruses (ICTV) Picobirnaviridae study group and is a Distinguished Member of World Society for Virology, Fellow of the Indian Virological Society, and Member of American Society for Virology. He is a recipient of the Zoetis Award and RUSVM SAVMA award for Veterinary Research Excellence. Because of his contributions to teaching in the veterinary profession, he received twice the CARE award from RUSVM.
