Mehanathan Muthamilarasan

About

Muthamilarasan is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Plant Sciences, University of Hyderabad, India. He has earned his undergraduate and post-graduate degrees in Biotechnology from Madurai Kamaraj University, and his doctorate from National Institute of Plant Genome Research (NIPGR), New Delhi. He was a Fulbright-Nehru Doctoral Research Scholar at the Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana for the academic year 2015-2016. In his research career, Muthamilarasan is focusing on deploying integrated omics technologies for genetic improvement of crop species and has published more than thirty articles in journals of international repute. In addition to academics, Muthamilarasan is active in mentoring students and researchers, and he has served as a resource-person in invited lectures and seminars. In view of his contributions, he has been awarded several prestigious awards including (i) ‘Early Career Research Award 2018’ from Science and Engineering Research Board, Department of Science & Technology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India; (ii) ‘INSA Medal for Young Scientist 2018’ from Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi, India; and (iii) ‘Indo-Australian Career Boosting Gold Fellowship (2017-18)’ from Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India. Prior to joining the University of Hyderabad, he served as INSPIRE Faculty at ICAR-National Institute for Plant Biotechnology, New Delhi.
