Debopam Acharya

About

Dr. Debopam Acharya is Professor and Dean - Engineering, and Area Director – Computer Science and Engineering at NIIT University, Neemrana, Rajasthan, India. He earned his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, USA. He also holds an M.Tech in Computer Science from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, and a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science and Engineering from Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University, Agra.
Prior to joining NU, Dr. Acharya served as Professor and Founding Dean of School of Computing at DIT University, Dehradun from 2019 till 2026. He has also served as HoD, CSE at Shiv Nadar University, Greater Noida, Tenure-Track Faculty at Georgia Southern University, Statesboro, GA, USA and as Software Engineer, Location based Services in Garmin Intl, Kansas, USA.
His research interests are in various areas of Internet of Things, Mobile Sensing and Smart Environment, with applications in environmental monitoring and intelligent infrastructure systems. His work has been published in leading international conferences and journals, including a best paper award at 37th IEEE TENCON conference, 2025 in Malaysia. His research is funded by several national and international organizations like the Ministry of Electronics and IT- Govt. of India, University of Georgia System, Dell India, BlackBerry, etc.
