About

I am presently engaged as a Professor in Hotel Management at Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Dehradun.

Priorly, I was Dean at the School of Hospitality Management with IMS Unison University, Dehradun. Additionally, carrying the responsibility of Dean of Student Affairs at the university.

I have a blended experience in the hospitality industry, academics, and research, spanning over thirty years. With a deep-rooted passion for the trade of hospitality education, I have been instrumental in establishing and developing various prestigious professional hospitality institutes in Northern India.

I started my career in the capacity of a chef, and worked in various prestigious hotel properties, both in India & overseas. As an established academician, I have published and presented numerous research papers in various national and international research journals and conferences.

Passion in academic has provided various opportunities to be a frequent keynote speaker at various prestigious national and international conferences. I have authored/ co-authored/ edited seven books on hospitality subjects and contributed chapters to three hospitality and tourism books.

Indian Hospitality Congress has conferred the “Aspiring Researcher Welcome Award’’ for the year 2015-16. In the year 2016, I received the “Educator of the Year Award 2016” by the International Society for Hospitality Education, and I have also been the recipient of “Global Hospitality Leadership Award 2018”, “Academic and Research Excellence Award 2019,” and ‘Global Hospitality Award 2019 (Best Mentor in Hospitality Education), felicitated at international conferences.
As a passionate hospitality academician, I have been a mentor and trainer for my students and have ensured the highest quality arrangements in teaching, learning and student support systems that has ensured students being transformed from potential to professionals.

My research focus is on hospitality education and operations. As the Indian hospitality industry is still in its early evolutionary stages, and the research scholars under my supervision are researching problems of hospitality and tourism in various fields such as management, human behaviour, planning, marketing and many more, thus making their research a multidisciplinary study.
Therefore, I am driven with passion to carry out more research that studies various facets of hospitality industry and which will help in resolving its present challenges.
