About
Dr. Pankaj Thakur is an Assistant Professor at Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali Uttarakhand University of Horticulture & Forestry (VCSG UUHF), College of Forestry, Ranichauri. Prior to join VCSG UUHF, he was Assistant Professor at Chaudhary Charan Singh National Institute of Agricultural Marketing (CCS NIAM), Jaipur, Rajasthan-India (An autonomous organization of Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India). He holds a doctorate degree in Agri-Business Management from Dr Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, Solan, India. He is the first person in the state of Himachal Pradesh to have completed a Ph.D. in Agri-Business Management. He has also completed PG diploma in Agricultural Extension Management (PGDAEM) from National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad, India. He also worked as faculty of Agribusiness Management at Acharya Narendra Deva University of Agriculture & Technology, Ayodhya, (A State Agriculture University). His research and teaching interests are in the areas of Agribusiness Management, Ecotourism, Agritourism, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Climate Smart Agriculture, Sustainable Agriculture, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, Choice behavior, Livelihood, Sustainability and Farm Business Management. He has authored numerous research papers, which have been published in prestigious peer-reviewed journals indexed in Thomson Reuters impact factor, ABDC, SCI, Scopus and NAAS. Additionally, he has published many popular articles in reputable magazines & newspapers. Dr. Thakur's actively engages in the research & academic community as a reviewer for esteemed publishing platforms such as Springer, Elsevier and Frontiers media S.A. He has completed research on agricultural output marketing channel choice and their impact on farmers livelihood. His research offers substantial contributions to both academic literature and practical policymaking in the agricultural sector. Moreover, his research highlight the need for policymakers to develop and implement interventions that enhance farmers marketing skills, facilitate access to markets, improve negotiation power which can lead to higher incomes for farmers, improve their livelihoods, better quality produce for consumers and a more efficient and sustainable food system. Driven by a profound passion for agricultural innovation and sustainability, Dr. Thakur continues to inspire and empower students, farmers, researchers and practitioners through his exemplary research, teaching and service to the agricultural community.
