About
Chandan Roy is currently a Research Associate at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Tirupati, investigating gene regulatory networks controlling stress adaptation and developmental plasticity in plants. He pursued his PhD from the University of Calcutta, where he studied the molecular role of rice lectin and r40 gene family proteins in abiotic stress tolerance, developmental signalling, and plant defence pathways in rice and Arabidopsis. Later, he worked on CRISPR-Cas9-mediated genome editing in grass pea to develop transgene-free low β-ODAP lines and explored molecular mechanisms underlying rice blast resistance and salt tolerance. His major interest lies in deciphering stress-responsive regulatory networks, plant growth-defense trade-offs, and functional genomics approaches for developing climate-resilient crop plants.
