About
🔬 About Me:
I am a dedicated Project Scientist at DBT-North East Centre for Agricultural Biotechnology (DBT-NECAB), affiliated with Assam Agricultural University, India. With a strong foundation in molecular biology and a passion for advancing agricultural biotechnology, I have honed my skills through extensive research in plant-insect interactions and CRISPR-mediated genome editing.
🎓 Education & Professional Background:
Ph.D. in Plant Biotechnology from Assam Agricultural University, focusing on understanding the defense response induced by the bruchid beetle in blackgram.
Previous experience as a Senior Project Associate at CSIR-North East Institute of Science and Technology (CSIR-NEIST), Jorhat-785006, Assam, India.
🔍 Research Focus:
In my previous projects, I focused on using the CRISPR/Cpf1 genome editing system to target a gene that is known to affect stress responses in a specific rice cultivar from the North East. Throughout my extensive experience of 5.5 years, which includes 4 years of doctoral research and 1.5 years of project work, I have developed a strong proficiency in a wide range of molecular biology techniques.
đź’ˇ Key Skills & Expertise:
Molecular Biology: Cloning (conventional and Gateway), heterologous protein expression, plant transformation via Agrobacterium, RNAseq data analysis.
PCR Techniques: RT-PCR, qRT-PCR, DNA/RNA/protein extraction, western blotting, ELISA assays.
Microscopy & Spectrophotometry: Light microscopy, spectrophotometric assays.
CRISPR/Cas Genome Editing: sgRNA design, analysis of editing events, molecular and physiological characterization of edited lines.
Bioinformatics: Sanger sequencing data analysis, transcriptome assembly, statistical analysis in R and Graphpad Prism.
Imaging: Live cell imaging using confocal microscopy.
🚀 Passionate & Driven:
I am driven by an insatiable curiosity and a relentless pursuit of knowledge. My enthusiasm for adopting new techniques and enhancing my skill set fuels my ambition to contribute meaningfully to the genetic improvement of crop plants and address pressing agricultural challenges.
