About
My research focuses on the study of microbial function, composition, biological transformation of emerging contaminants, nutrient solubilization, toxicity assessment, and interactions within various environments to understand the important microorganisms present in different environments, the methodologies used to monitor them, and other effects on human activities. My field of research interfaces with areas like soil and aquatic microbiology, water quality, bioremediation, food safety related to agrochemical contamination, and industrial microbiology. My research seeks to utilize the understanding of microorganisms in the environment to benefit society, making it an applied field with a strong emphasis on practical applications. My research combines bioinformatic tools, and ecological techniques to explore microbes across various environments. My overarching research emphasizes discovery-based approaches enabled by, searching for novel microbial strains, and sequencing technologies and aims to conduct hypothesis-driven research. The vision for future research includes a continuation of this interdisciplinary approach to delve deeper into understanding the mechanisms underlying the transport and fate of emerging contaminants in diverse environments. Additionally, different molecular techniques will be employed to investigate various mechanisms involved in the biodegradation of emerging contaminants.
