About
Dr. Bharat Bhushan Negi is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Soonchunhyang University, South Korea, working at the interface of chemical engineering, environmental biotechnology, and sustainable wastewater treatment. His research focuses on developing biological and bioprocess-based technologies for industrial wastewater treatment, resource recovery, and circular bioeconomy applications, with particular emphasis on fungal bioprocess engineering, mycoremediation, biofilm and packed-bed bioreactors, biosorption, and recovery of valuable elements from waste streams.
He completed his Joint PhD in Chemical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, India, and Curtin University, Australia. His doctoral research investigated integrated fungal technologies for treating complex industrial wastewater, including the removal of organic pollutants, heavy metals, and selenite, as well as the recovery of rare earth elements such as lanthanum. His work combines experimental bioreactor studies, process engineering, biomass characterization, and computational approaches, including molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulations, to investigate enzyme–pollutant interactions and biodegradation mechanisms.
His earlier research includes fungal bioreactor systems for selenite removal and selenium nanoparticle recovery, predictive modeling of bioreactor performance, and process-intensified lignocellulosic biofuel production. His broader research interests include industrial wastewater treatment, fungal biotechnology, bioreactor design, mycoremediation, biodegradation, heavy-metal and selenium remediation, rare-earth element recovery, biosorption, resource recovery, and computational environmental biotechnology. He has published peer-reviewed research in international journals and serves as a peer reviewer for scholarly activities.
