About

Dr. P. Mangaiyarkarasi was born on May 28, 1994, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. She received her B.E. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Anna University in 2015 and completed her M.E. in the same discipline in 2017 as a University 1st Rank Holder and Gold Medalist. She earned her Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Anna University, College of Engineering, Guindy (CEG) Campus in 2022. She has been a Life Member of the Association for Machines and Mechanisms (AMM) under the Asian Mechanism and Machine Science – Young Delegate Program since 2018 and became a Member of IEEE in 2025.

From 2022 to 2023, she worked as a Project Associate at IIT Madras Research Park, contributing to an industry-collaborative project with Accenture Solutions Limited, India. She subsequently served as a Post-Doctoral Researcher in the Department of Engineering Design, IIT Madras, collaborating with Indus Towers Limited, Gurugram, Haryana, India from May 2023 to May 2025. During this period, she established a Battery Research Laboratory and a Battery Engineering Lab in the Dept. of Engineering Design, IITM for dual-degree EV programs, developed detailed lab manuals, and conducted hands-on sessions for M.Tech. Electric Vehicles course.

In 2025, she was awarded the DST Women Scientist Post-Doctoral Fellowship and continues her research at the Department of Engineering Design, IIT Madras. She also serves as a Teaching Associate in the Centre for Outreach and Digital Education (CODE), IIT Madras, where she teaches M.Tech. EV online courses, mentors industry learners, coordinates project work, conducts examinations, and manages academic interactions for working professionals enrolled in the distributed education program.

She has collaborated with multiple industries through technical projects, consultancy, and applied R&D. She is currently involved in an international collaborative research project with the Department of Chemical Engineering, Purdue University, focusing on AI/ML-based battery modeling and predictive analytics.

She has published 8 international journal articles and a total of around 20 research publications, including national and international conference papers. Her works have received over 79 citations with an h-index of 6 and i-10 index of 3. These publications are indexed in SCOPUS and Science Citation Indexed (SCI) databases, with notable publications in IEEE Access, and she received the Best Paper Award at an international conference during her post-doctoral research.

Her research interests include Battery Management Systems, Electric Vehicles, Battery Modeling, Finite Element Analysis, Microelectronics, Energy Harvesting and Storage, and AI/ML applications in energy systems.
