PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Md Abdul Kafi received DVM and MS in Microbiology from Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh-2202, Bangladesh. Then, he pursued his PhD in Integrated Biotechnology from the Interdisciplinary Programme of Integrated Biotechnology offered at Sogang University, Seoul, Korea. During PhD research, Dr. Kafi developed nano-structured artificial surface for establishing neural cell chip capable of monitoring of environmental toxicant with a level free electrochemical methods. Afterwards, He was awarded with Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) fellowship for working at Institute for Applied Mechanics, Kyushu University, Japan for working on porous biomaterial based scaffold fabrication for supporting 3D growth of tissue. During his post-doctoral research, he developed peptide functionalized chitosan scaffold suitable for hMSC adhesion and proliferation. Currently, Dr. Kafi is working as a Marie Curie Individual fellow at Bendable Electronics and Sensing Technology (BEST) group, School of Engineering, University of Glasgow, UK. Besides this, he holds a permanent faculty position at Bangladesh Agricultural University as Professor. Currently, Dr. Kafi is involved with the development chitosan based bendable surface for electrochemically stimulated neural differentiation. He is working on BIOPOLYMER based platform for biocompatible, biodegradable and bioresorbable electronics for wearable/implantable electronics. He published a numbers of research articles, reviews and patents at home and abroad.
