About
Dr. Nagesh Prabhu, Vice Principal and Professor of EEE at NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte has received Diploma in Electrical Engineering in 1986 from Karnataka Polytechnic, Mangalore. He has earned A.M.I.E. degree in Electrical Engineering from Institution of Engineers, India, in 1991, M. Tech. from KREC (Presently National Institute of Technology Karnataka) Suratkal, in 1995 and Ph.D. degree in Power Systems & Power Electronics from Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, India in 2005.
Dr. Prabhu is passionate for teaching as a career and served in the academic field since 1986 at various capacities and has a total 39 years of teaching and research experience.
He has obtained the research grants from various sources including CPRI- MOP, Govt. of INDIA ,AICTE- NEW DELHI and KCTU, GOK, India, to carryout research in the area of FACTS and Wideband Gap Power Electronics Technology.
His research interests are mainly in the area of power system dynamics and control, HVDC & FACTS, custom power controllers for the enhancement of Power Quality and Integration of FACTS with Smart Electrical Energy Networks (SEEN). He has over 60 research publications including IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, Elsevier Science (Electric Power System Research and Power & Energy Systems) and other International and National Conferences. He has received the best paper award from IIT Roorkee, India for the research on “Analysis of Subsynchronous Resonance with VSC based HVDC transmission systems” during December 2006. He has guided four research scholars for their PhD degree from JNTU, Hyderabad and VTU Belagavi.
