Mamta K Singh

About

I am a general internist and a medical education researcher. I have a background in Health Services Research and have a qualitative research certificate. My work in assessment and evaluation and my expertise in Quality Improvement and System Redesign has led me to align delivery care models to meet the needs of patients. I am the Director of the Interprofessional Improvement Research, Education, and Clinical Center which is home to the VA Quality Scholars (VAQS) and Health Professions Education Evaluation and Research (HPEER) programs at the Northeast Ohio Healthcare System. As Professor of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), I have spearheaded many innovative projects and system redesign across disciplines with the goal of improving the care for the patient. I am the former director of the Cleveland VA’s Center of Excellence in Primary Care Education, a $8M initiative over 9 years to transform primary care education to a robust team based interprofessional care model. This model was successful and is now adopted by many VA medical centers across the nation. In addition to VA funding, I have successfully secured funding for my work from the AMA, Macy foundation, RWJ foundation, Institute for Health Care Improvement and HRSA.
As a primary care physician, I have expertise in chronic disease management at the individual and population health level. I am chair of the Adult Leadership Team for the regional Better Health Partnership (BHP). I work closely with primary care sites in Northeast Ohio to carry out the mission of BHP which is to share best practices and improve care quality by reducing health disparities.
Given my experience in primary care and population health along with my QI and HSR background, I will lead the team to share best practices along community health centers to reduce health care disparities. With the VA Quality Scholars and Health Professions Education Evaluation Research fellows we will use QI and implementation science strategies to identify contextual factors that contribute to variation in care and how to address them.
