About
I am Dr. Tamilselvan Appadurai, working as a Research Assistant Professor at the Department of Physics and Nanotechnology, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur – India. In my Ph.D. program at the University of Madras, I had the privilege of working under the guidance of Prof. S. Balakumar. I have designed a variety of semiconductor nanostructures (nanorods, nanospheres, and nanotubes) to develop efficient energy storage devices. These nanostructures can be used to create batteries with a higher capacity, faster charging times, and longer lifespans. Later on, I continued my research with Dr. Aravind Kumar Chandiran, IIT – Madras. I gained a comprehensive understanding of optoelectronic materials and learned how to use them efficiently and effectively for potential applications. I was able to successfully develop and optimize optoelectronic materials for a variety of applications, including light-emitting diodes, solar cells, and photodetectors. Then I had the opportunity to pursue a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Hanyang University, Republic of Korea, where I studied the art of fabricating perovskite solar cells and photodetector devices.
My research group conducts research primarily on the fabrication of optoelectronic devices which includes Perovskite solar cells, Light-emitting diodes, and photodetectors. Besides, we are also exploring new absorber materials for applications in the field of photovoltaics. we are focused on synthesizing the halide perovskites semiconductor materials from single crystals to nanomaterials and studying their fundamental properties of charge carriers, and excited lifetime, and also address the challenges involved in the development of optoelectronic devices. Having a thorough understanding of semiconductor materials in terms of their structural, electrical, and optical properties will allow us to develop devices that work efficiently.
