About
Dr. Navjeet Kaur was born in Punjab, India. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Panjab University, Chandigarh, followed by a Master of Science in Chemistry from Banasthali Vidyapith. She completed her PhD at Banasthali Vidyapith, where her doctoral research focused on the synthesis of chemotherapeutically relevant molecules based on privileged benzodiazepine scaffolds. A consistently meritorious student, she received academic distinctions during her school education and was awarded scholarships throughout her MSc and PhD programs.
Dr. Kaur pursued postdoctoral research at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, Oklahoma City, USA, where she worked on the design, synthesis, and evaluation of novel contrast agents for cancer detection and imaging. Previously, she held long-term academic positions at Banasthali Vidyapith, Rajasthan, including Assistant Professor (2013-2022) and Research Associate (2011-2013), contributing extensively to teaching, independent research, doctoral supervision, and institutional development. Currently, she is working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry & Division of Research and Development at Lovely Professional University, Punjab.
Dr. Kaur’s research expertise spans organic synthesis, medicinal chemistry, and catalysis. She has successfully supervised five PhD scholars and seven MSc dissertation students. Her doctoral mentorship has primarily focused on domino processes and palladium-catalyzed C-N cross-coupling reactions for the synthesis of medicinally important benzodiazepines. Her technical proficiency includes synthetic methodology development, advanced spectroscopic and analytical techniques, cell culture, microbial screening, and the use of modern laboratory instrumentation, along with expertise in major chemistry software tools and scientific databases.
With over twelve years of teaching experience at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, Dr. Kaur has taught a broad range of core and advanced chemistry courses. She has played key roles in curriculum design, laboratory development and leadership, research instrumentation management, student mentoring, and university-level academic governance. Her service contributions include membership on doctoral defense committees, boards of studies, recruitment and admission committees, and examination bodies.
Dr. Kaur has authored more than 200 scholarly contributions, including research and review articles, conference papers, preprints, books, book chapters, and monographs published by leading international publishers. Notably, she has authored nineteen single-author books with renowned publishers such as Elsevier, Springer Nature, and Taylor & Francis.
Her research impact has been recognized internationally through her inclusion for eight consecutive years (2018-2025) in the World Ranking of the Top 2% Scientists in subject-wise analyses conducted by a Stanford University-led team, appearing in both full-career and single-year impact categories. Her scholarly achievements have received wide coverage in national and regional media, as well as in institutional publications.
Dr. Kaur’s honors include the Prof. G. L. Telesara Award (2011) from the Indian Council of Chemists, the Best Paper Presentation Award at a national conference, and recognition as the most productive and distinguished author of Banasthali Vidyapith in the university’s Scientometrics Profile published in Library Philosophy and Practice. She has also received certification from the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Rajasthan, in recognition of her contributions to science and technology on the occasion of Women’s Day.
She currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of Advanced Chemicobiology Research and as an Editorial Board Member of the Universal Journal of Green Chemistry. In addition, she is an active peer reviewer and evaluator for international research grants, fellowships, books, and journals, including programs supported by the European Science Foundation (FWO), the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, and the American University of Sharjah.
Dr. Kaur has participated in approximately fifty national and international conferences, workshops, seminars, and refresher courses, delivering invited lectures, oral and poster presentations. She has delivered many radio talks. She has also served as program co-chair, organizing committee member, and national advisory committee member for several national and international conferences.
Beyond academia, Dr. Kaur has demonstrated sustained societal engagement. She served as a National Service Scheme (NSS) Program Officer from 2016 to 2022 and as a member of the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) from 2018 to 2022, contributing to government-led initiatives focused on rural healthcare, education, environmental sustainability, and agricultural development.
