About

Dr. Kingsuk Mahata was born and raised in a small village of forest-enclosed town Jhargram in India. He studied chemistry at Midnapore College and received his BSc (honours) degree from Vidyasagar University in 2003. After finishing his MSc from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur in 2005, he moved to Germany for doctoral research and obtained a PhD for his work at the University of Siegen on metallosupramolecular chemistry under the guidance of Prof. Michael Schmittel in 2010. Subsequently, he joined the research group of Prof. Frank Wuerthner at the University of Wuerzburg (Germany) as an Alexander von Humboldt postdoctoral fellow. In the beginning of 2013 he joined Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati as an assistant professor. His current research interests include design and synthesis of catalysts for renewable energy, medicinal application of self-assembled materials and bioinorganic chemistry.
