About
I am currently working as Professor and Associate Dean (R&D), University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun, India. The main thrust of my research has been on process safety, especially forecasting and consequence assessment of accidents in chemical process industries (CPI). In the main, I have applied computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to study dense gas dispersion, vapour cloud explosions, pool fires and multiple pool fires. I have also worked on analysing past accidents in CPI and have set up an online database, PUPAD, for the purpose. The work has so far resulted in 10 papers in peer reviewed 1+ impact factor journals and several other papers in conference proceedings. Several other papers are under review. My other interests have been in solid waste management, especially a) design of continuously operable vermireactor systems that can handle paper waste, weeds and other forms of biowaste, and b) high rate anaerobic digesters. This work has led to 4 patent claims and 6 papers of which three are in 5+ IF journals. I have also co-authored 3 books.
