About

Samreen Fiza is an accomplished academician and researcher currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Presidency University, Bangalore. With over a decade of experience in academia and research, her areas of expertise include digital image processing, computer vision, and machine learning. She is presently pursuing her Ph.D. with a focus on image fusion techniques using advanced computational methods.

She has made substantial contributions to her field, authoring over 15 peer-reviewed international journal articles—including publications in high-impact SCI Q1 journals such as Scientific Reports and Multimedia Tools and Applications. She has presented more than 35 papers in national and international conferences indexed in IEEE, Springer, WoS, and Scopus, and has published 14 book chapters in reputed edited volumes. Her research has led to the filing of 9 patents under the Government of India's Intellectual Property rights, with 1 granted design patent.

She is the recipient of several awards, including the University 3rd Rank in M.Tech from VTU, the “Teaching Excellence Award” by the Rotary Club of Bangalore Oasis, and multiple Best Paper Awards at IEEE and Springer conferences. She was also recognized by ISRO as an “Excellent Performer” during her M.Tech project at the Telemetry Department, ISRO Satellite Centre, Bangalore.

Fiza actively contributes to the research community as a reviewer for several SCI journals including Scientific Reports, Multimedia Systems, The Visual Computer, and International Journal of Machine Learning and Cybernetics. She has served in roles such as Associate Track Chair, Advisory Committee Member, and Reviewer in various IEEE and international conferences. Fiza is a member of multiple national and international professional bodies including The Institution of Engineers (India), ISTE, IAENG (Hong Kong), IAEEEE, and the Internet Society (Geneva).

Her ongoing research aims to address real-world challenges through interdisciplinary solutions involving computer vision, medical image analysis, artificial intelligence, and IoT. She is particularly focused on advanced image fusion techniques for medical diagnostics, multi-modal imaging, deep learning-based disease detection, and AI-integrated smart systems for healthcare and agriculture. Fiza has actively contributed to the development of smart embedded systems, including automated waste segregation units and hyperspectral imaging tools for pest detection in crops, as evidenced by her published and granted patents. Her innovations extend into cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, energy systems, and autonomous automation, aligning with national missions in Digital Health and Smart Cities. She is also engaged in curriculum design, R&D coordination, and research proposal development for major funding agencies like ISRO, UGC, AICTE, and DST-SERB.
