About
Dr. Shakeelur Raheman Ateequr Raheman is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), South Korea. He previously served as Assistant Professor of Applied Physics at SVKM’s Institute of Technology, Dhule, India (2021–2025). He earned his Ph.D. in Physics (Material Science) from the Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai, where his doctoral research focused on quantum dot-based hybrid materials for visible-light-driven photocatalytic hydrogen evolution.
His research expertise encompasses advanced nanomaterials and multifunctional heterostructures for sustainable energy and environmental applications. His core research areas include Li-ion separation membranes for lithium recovery from brine, solar-driven water purification and desalination, photocatalytic hydrogen evolution, electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution (HER), and high-performance supercapacitors. He has also contributed significantly to carbon-based nanomaterials for photothermal water evaporation, fuel cell applications, and advanced electrochemical energy storage systems. In addition, his work on phase change materials (PCMs) focuses on efficient thermal energy storage and refrigeration technologies, along with the development of sustainable materials for zero-liquid-discharge (ZLD) systems.
Dr. Raheman possesses strong expertise in nanomaterial synthesis using both bottom-up and top-down approaches, along with electrochemical deposition on conductive substrates. He is highly skilled in advanced characterization techniques, including X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning and transmission electron microscopy (SEM, TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and various spectroscopic and electrochemical methods. His technical proficiency extends to cyclic voltammetry, impedance spectroscopy, and photoelectrochemical analysis for energy conversion and storage applications.
He has published over 35 peer-reviewed articles in high-impact journals such as Advanced Functional Materials, Chemical Engineering Journal, Fuel, Journal of Power Sources, Desalination, Renewable Energy, Carbon, and Journal of Materials Chemistry C, along with several book chapters. His recent research also includes nanocatalyst-enhanced biodiesel–diesel blends for improved engine performance and graphene-based composite materials for thermal energy storage.
Dr. Raheman is an active reviewer for reputed journals, including the International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, Journal of Alloys and Compounds, Fuel Cell, Energy Technology, and Carbon Letters. His contributions have been recognized through prestigious fellowships such as the National Research Foundation (NRF) Korea Postdoctoral Fellowship, DST Junior Research Fellowship, and the Maulana Azad National Fellowship
