About

I was born in Palayamkottai, Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, and completed my schooling at Cathedral Hr. Sec. School in the same city. Subsequently, I pursued my Bachelor's degree in Chemistry at St. Xavier's College and continued my education at Bishop Heber College for my Master's in Chemistry. For my PhD, I joined Prof. P. Venuvanalingam's Computational Chemistry Group at Bharathidasan University. I successfully completed my PhD in Computational Chemistry with a focus on "designing molecules for materials and biomaterials."

Afterward, I moved to University of Basel, Switzerland to work with Prof. Markus Meuwly receiving Swiss Excellence Fellowship (2012-2014), and subsequently joined Prof. Andreas Heyden's catalysis research group as post doctoral associate at the University of South Carolina, USA for two years. Since 2016, I have served as an assistant professor of Chemistry at Madras Christian College in Chennai. In addition to my research, I teach topics such as quantum chemistry, spectroscopy, phase rule, chemical kinetics, and photochemistry to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
I received the DST-SERB Early Career Research Fellowship in 2018 to work on nuclear waste management and the UBCHEA Institutional Grant in 2019 for the project on "Science Communication among tribal students through Service Learning Science Camps". The year 2020 brought the MCC Alumni Publication Award, and I completed the Harvard BOK Higher Education Teaching Certificate online short course in November 2021. In 2022, I was honored with the MCC Outstanding Professor award. I published more than 90 research articles in internationally reputed Journals and contributed to four book chapters. Currently, three PhD students are conducting research in my computational chemistry laboratory at MCC.
