About

Dr. Lorenzo Rossi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Horticultural Sciences at Texas A&M University, based in College Station, TX. His primary research focus is on plant stress physiology, with an emphasis on grape cultivation, citrus, and other fruit crops under diverse environmental conditions. Dr. Rossi’s field and laboratory trials investigate plant and root physiological responses, root architecture, and functional traits, utilizing cutting-edge instrumentation for root imaging, gas exchange, and agronomic phenotyping.

Dr. Rossi is dedicated to advancing agricultural knowledge and practices. He develops and provides seminars, field days, and workshops for students, growers, and industry professionals. He is the lead instructor for HORT 201 "Horticulture Science and Practice" and HORT 202 "Horticulture Science and Practice Laboratory". He also teaches graduate courses on campus and contribute to developing programs that integrate plant and soil health into sustainable horticultural practices.

Before joining Texas A&M University, Dr. Rossi held a faculty position at the University of Florida and completed two postdoctoral research appointments at Texas A&M University and NC State University. Originally from Italy, he earned his Ph.D. in Plant Biology from Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Pisa, Italy, one of the country’s most prestigious scientific institutions.
