About
I am a Ph.D. candidate in Biological Sciences (training areas: fungal genetics). My research interest lies in exploring the genetics and biochemical pathways that give certain fungi competitive advantages (for example, utilizing scarce nutrient resources, resistance to drugs, etc). Additionally, I am also interested in understanding the gain (or loss) of protein (or domain) functions through an evolutionary perspective. In this aspect, I study the functional significance of conserved domains found in kinetochore proteins of yeast model systems-particularly Candida albicans.
