About
My research focuses on real-time, site-specific nutrient management using digital tools and remote sensing in rice-based cropping systems. I have developed innovative strategies to enhance soil health under changing climates, emphasizing carbon sequestration and soil quality.
My work includes studying carbon dynamics, soil nutrient variability in two larger states of India i.e. Madhya Pradesh and Odisha, and assessing soil quality in vulnerable rice fields within mangrove ecosystems. I have also pioneered the delineation of nutrient management zones tailored to regional conditions, optimizing fertilization precision. Additionally, I have contributed to agricultural technology with tools like a customized leaf color chart and mobile apps for real-time nutrient and pest management.
I have guided 8 M.Sc. students and 1 Ph. D. student. Received travel grant from University of Aberdeen for attending International Conference of Global Land Project (GLP) in Beijing (26-29th Oct, 2016). I have visited China, South Africa, Brazil, Norway and Italy for many scientific assignments. Handled more than 10 externally funded projects funded by national and International funding agencies such as Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO); Ministry of Earth Sciences, GOI; International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Philippines and Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy (NIBIO), Norway in the capacity of Principal Investigator and Co- Principal Investigator.
For my contribution in scientific research, I was awarded best scientific worker award by ICAR-National Rice Research Institute, Cuttack in the year 2014, and Nanaji Deshmukh ICAR award for outstanding interdisciplinary team research in agriculture and allied sciences by ICAR in 2020. I was awarded with the Lal Bahadur Shastri Outstanding Young Scientist Award 2021 by ICAR, New Delhi, NAAS Associate by National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, New Delhi in 2022 and Outstanding young scientist award by Outlook Agritech and Swaraj tractors in 2022.
Currently I am focussing on Yield estimation from small holders farm and Nitrogen fertiliser recommendation in rice using Drone (UAV) mounted multispectral sensors.
