Pramod Kumar at present working as Consultant Plastic Surgeon, King Fahad Central Hospital, Jazan, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He has served as Medical Superindent and Plastic surgeon, Srinivas Institute of Medical Sciences, Mukka, Mangalore; Consultant Plastic Surgeon, King Abdul Aziz Specialist Hospital, Sakaka, Al-Jouf, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; Prof and Head, Department of Burns and Plastic Surgery, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal University, Manipal 576 104, Karnataka, India. He has also been in charge of Manipal Laser Center.
He completed his master’s degree in Surgery in 1995, Plastic Surgery in 1988 from KG Medical College, Lucknow and Dip. NB in 1999. He worked as Senior Resident in Plastic, Maxillofacial and Burn surgery and at various Capacities at KMC, Manipal. He has been Special Trainee in Microsurgery at Institute for Research and Rehabilitation of Hand and Department of Plastic Surgery, Stanley hospital Chennai.
He has received various fellowships and award (APSI Ethicon Traveling Fellowship-1991, RGS International Traveling Fellowship-2001, Prize for producing Best Audio Visual Material (Bandage Technique for extremities) by the faculty members (Kasturba Medical College, Manipal) during the year 2005-2006, TMA Pai Gold Medal for excellence in Medical Research, KMC, Manipal (2010), Safdarjang Hospital Professorship for the year 2011 for dedication and involvement in burn care. (By National Academy of Burns – India) and Life time achievement award by the Society of Wound Care and Research (2013).
He has been Visiting Scholar in Craniofacial Surgery at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taipei, Taiwan from 01/02/2001 to 28/04/2001.
He has more than hundred twenty National and International publications. He has designed and developed many new flaps, published many innovative ideas in burns and plastic surgery. He has also designed and developed Limited Access Dressing technique.
He has guided several MS (surgery) post graduate thesis and PhD thesis.
He is founder president of The Society for Wound Care and Research and active member of various national associations (Association of Plastic Surgeons of India, Lymphology Society of India, Academy of Hospital Administration). He was member of Association of Surgeons of India.
He has authored two books and contributed chapter in two books.
He has been appointed as Editor, Journal of SWCR for 3 years (Jan 2012 -2014)
He has served as Editor of Indian Journal of Plastic Surgery (For 3 years; From Jan 2000).,Abstractor: Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is also Editorial Board Member of Burns, Wounds, Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery, World Journal of Critical Care Medicine, Chinese Journal of Practical Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery
He has special interest in humanitarian work.
