About
I am a Developmental and Stem cell biologist. The focus of my research is cardiovascular diseases and type 1 diabetes. My expertise with mouse developmental genetics, transcriptional regulation, transgenesis, expression profiling and differential gene regulation has enabled me to identify indispensable role of genetic regulators and signaling pathways involved in cardiac development and regeneration. My current area of research is to develop cell replacement therapy for people living with Type 1 diabetes. I am working towards understanding the effect of beta cell niche on its structure and function and modifying the microenvironment to augment stem cell derived-beta cell function.
