University of Calcutta, Indian Statistical Institute, Vidyasagar University
About
Dr. Soumen De has been a Professor at the University of Calcutta since April 2022, at the age of 40 years. He earned his B.Sc (Mathematics Honours) 1st Class 1st at Vidyasagar University in 2002, M.Sc (Applied Mathematics) 1st Class 1st at University of Calcutta in 2004, Ph.D(Sc.) at Indian Statistical Institute Kolkata in 2009. His research focuses on Applied Mathematics (Fluid Mechanics), which has been disseminated in 150+ peer-reviewed papers spanning prestigious journals such as Journal of Fluid Mechanics (Cambridge University Press), The Quarterly Journal of Mechanics and Applied Mathematics ( Oxford University Press), Physics of Fluids (American Institute of Physics), Studies in Applied Mathematics (John Wiley & Sons Inc.) and Master classes. Notably, his research is largely supported by Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), DST & UGC (Government of India) and WBDST (Government of West Bengal). De’s research excellence is recognised by the prestigious Teachers Associateship for Research Excellence (TARE) Fellowship (2022-2025). Further, He has successfully supervised 21 Ph.D. (Sc.) scholars. Complementing his research achievements, Dr De has been serving as a reviewer for many reputed journals.
