Dr. Amrit Krishna Mitra is presently an Assistant Professor (West Bengal Education Service Gr: A) and Head of the Department of Chemistry, Government General Degree College – Singur, West Bengal. He acquired his Honours degree in Chemistry from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata under University of Calcutta and his Master’s degree from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. Dr. Mitra was awarded Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry by the University of Calcutta. His area of research is based on ‘Synthesis and Photophysical Studies of Heterocyclic Compounds’. With more than twenty publications in numerous reputed international scientific journals to his credit, Dr. Amrit Krishna Mitra has also penned a book and four book chapters. He is the Editorial Board member of several research journals of international repute. He has received several recognitions and awards from numerous reputed organisations of India. Dr. Mitra is involved in various activities related to Chemistry Olympiad organised by Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, TIFR, Mumbai. Dr. Mitra is also the visiting faculty and coordinator of M.Sc. Chemistry in Rani Rashmoni Green University, Hooghly, West Bengal. He is also involved in the ‘Board of Studies’ in several Universities in the district of West Bengal. At present, he is also a Member of Executive Council [East-Zone], Association of Chemistry Teachers (ACT) c/o Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, TIFR, Mumbai.
