About

Dr. Ishrat Jahan had been a dedicated member of ARK Foundation and contributing her expertise on Qualitative and Quantitative research as a Research Assistant. As public health professional, she has knowledge and skill in health systems, research and programs. She had been affiliated with projects lead and funded by the University of York and Leeds and Grand Challenges Canada, concentrating on significant areas namely, Tuberculosis (TB) and Tobacco control, Multi-Drug Resistant (MDR) TB and health intervention of Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh. Dr. Jahan has graduated in Bachelor’s in Dentistry from Chittagong Medical College and practiced as a dental surgeon at Elite Dental, Gazipur, for eight years. Later on, she post- graduated with a Master’s in Public Health from James Peter Grant School of Public Health, BRAC University. In ARK Foundation, Dr. Jahan had actively worked with the data management team on TB and Tobacco Randomized Control Trial (RCT), Psycho-social Support intervention for people with MDR-TB, and co-morbid depression in Bangladesh and Rohingya Maternal and Child Health (RMCH) project. However, she has performed qualitative research in Urban Anchol, Survey for Urban Equity (SUE) research project. Prior to joining ARK Foundation, she has worked with the Government of Bangladesh (GoB) and Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), where she and her team researched about the meal plan for school going children and created a model for a mid-day meal plan in Bangladesh which was published as an article in Field Exchange, an ENNs established online publication on nutrition and food security.
