Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Central Salt and Marine Chemicals Research Institute CSIR
About
Sushma Ijardar completed B.Sc. (Chemistry) with First Class from P.T. Sarvajanik College of Science, Surat (Gujarat) in 1998 and M.Sc. (Physical Chemistry) with First Class from Department of Chemistry, South Gujarat University, Surat in 2000. She has been awarded M.Phil degree (2003) and Ph.D. degree (2006) in solution thermodynamics by the Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat, India, for her work on partial molar studies of nonelectrolyte binary liquid mixtures under the supervision of Professor S.L. Oswal. She worked on research project entitled “Thermodynamic, acoustic and viscometric behaviour of imidazolium based room temperature ionic liquids in polar organic solvents” funded by Department of Science and Technology (DST), New Delhi under fast track young scientist scheme for 3 years. She joined Central Salt & Marine Chemical Research Institute (CSIR-CSMCRI), Bhavnagar, Gujarat as Scientist in salt & marine chemicals discipline in 2011. The main area of research was to study phase equilibria of multi component salt water systems and its applications in recovery of high purity salt from sea water, sub soil brine and saline industrial effluents. She has worked on seven in-house and industrial sponsored projects on recovery of high purity. In 2015, she moved to Veer Narmad South Gujarat University as Assistant Professor in Chemistry. She is a co-author of 2 book chapters and 26 research papers which have been published in international journals having good impact factor. Her Research Interests are: (i) Synthesis, purification and measurement of physico chemical properties and study volumetric, acoustic and transport behaviour of electrolytes and non-electrolytes and their aqueous and non-aqueous binary mixtures. (ii) Designing and application of aqueous biphasic systems (iii) Phase equilibria of salt water systems.
