About

Dr. Koushik Guha Biswas is currently working at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT) as an Assistant Professor in Department of Chemical Engineering. He has done his B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from Heritage Institute of Technology (West Bengal University of Technology), Kolkata. During his M.Tech at IIT Kharagpur, he has worked on reaction kinetics and catalyst development and investigated dehydrogenation reaction over zinc-alumina catalyst. During his doctoral work at IIT Kharagpur he invented various ways of process intensification in millimeter sized channels by simple geometric modifications of test conduit in multiphase systems. His subject of interest are multiphase flow, petroleum refinery, fluid mechanics, advance transport phenomena, computational fluid dynamics, mass transfer, chemical technology & reaction engineering. His research group consists of one postgraduate and five undergraduate students. His current research area are process intensification, two phase/three phase flow in refinery operations, micro-reactor technology, interfacial science and nano-catalysis. He is also experienced in handling and working with high-end equipments like high speed camera, microscope, goniometer, viscometer, surface tensiometer and gas chromatography. He has published 6 papers on mass transfer, renewable energy and hydrodynamics study in liquid-liquid flow in peer-reviewed journals of high repute and also has one patent. Apart from that he has presented his research in various international forum with 11 conference papers published. His experimental skills consists of flow reactor design and operation, micro-reactor development and operation, nano catalyst development, construction of process intensifying devices and high resolution microscopy.
