About
Professor Sivakumar Manickam is a Chemical Engineer renowned for his expertise in process engineering related to nanomaterials, with a special focus on nanopharmaceuticals. He boasts an extensive career spanning over 25 years in this specialized field. Presently, he holds a position at the University of Technology Brunei (UTB) in Brunei, having previously worked at the University of Nottingham, International Campus in Malaysia. Prof. Sivakumar's research focuses on developing cavitation-based reactors to produce technologically significant nanomaterials. His work also encompasses environmentally friendly methods for natural product extraction, water treatment, the formulation of pharmaceutical nanoemulsions, and innovative carbon nanomaterials to create biosensors for early diagnosis of conditions like cancer and diabetes.
While at the University of Nottingham, he served in various leadership capacities, including Director of Research, Founding Director for the Centre for Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials, Head of the Manufacturing and Industrial Research Division, and Associate Dean for Research and Knowledge Exchange. At UTB, he currently serves as Deputy Dean (Research) of the Faculty of Engineering. Throughout his illustrious career, Prof. Sivakumar has successfully managed and completed over 20 projects funded by industry and government entities. He has also supervised more than 50 students in various research projects. His significant contributions to the field are reflected in his extensive publication record, which includes over 250 peer-reviewed papers in reputable journals and conferences. His scholarly impact is underscored by a notable h-index of 59, as per Scholar Google.
Additionally, Prof. Sivakumar holds the prestigious position of Executive Editor for the Ultrasonics Sonochemistry Journal. His affiliations extend to service on the Asia Oceania Sonochemical Society board. Furthermore, he has been recognized as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK) and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC).
