About
Yong Wang is a computational biophysicist with a background in chemistry and computer science. He earned his BSc in Chemistry from Jilin University with a minor in Computer Science, and subsequently completed an MSc in Analytical Chemistry at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. His early research focused on understanding fundamental biophysical processes, including protein folding, disordered proteins, and protein conformational changes, through the development and application of coarse-grained modelling (e.g. the Gō models).
In 2013, he pursued a PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Copenhagen under the supervision of Kresten Lindorff-Larsen. During his doctoral studies, he combined computational modeling with experimental techniques such as HDX mass spectrometry, NMR, Cryo-EM, and SAXS to investigate complex biological systems.
He moved back to China in 2021 and joined Zhejiang University as a PI. His current research aims to advance AI-augmented enhanced-sampling molecular simulation and multi-scale integrative ensemble modelling. These methodologies are applied to investigate physiologically important membrane proteins, including insect olfactory receptors, P-type ATPases, and bacterial flagellar motor proteins.
