About
Hi, I’m Dr. Aravinth R, currently working as an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Environment Education and Research, Bharati Vidyapeeth University in Pune. I specialize in remote sensing, GIS, and geotechnical engineering, and earned my Ph.D. from Chitkara University, where I focused on site-specific landslide investigations in Himachal Pradesh.
My academic path started with a B.Tech in Geo-Technology and Geoinformatics from Bharathidasan University, followed by an M.Tech in Geoinformatics from the University of Madras. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work in both academic and research roles, including positions at Chitkara University and the University of Madras.
I’m passionate about exploring how technology can be used to better understand and manage natural disasters—especially in mountainous and coastal regions. My interests include satellite remote sensing, drone mapping, digital image processing, and landslide risk modeling. I’ve co-authored several research papers, contributed to books, and filed a couple of patents aimed at improving early-warning systems for landslides.
Outside of work, I love photography, hiking, and spending time in nature—which actually ties in perfectly with my fieldwork. I’m also into learning new tech tools and enjoy sharing my knowledge through workshops and conferences.
Looking ahead, I’m excited about deepening my research in disaster resilience and climate adaptation, especially in vulnerable communities. I believe that science should serve society, and that keeps me motivated every day.
