About
I am Dr. Bhuvan Upadhyay, a former Research Associate at IIT Madras, with a Ph.D. in Physics from IIT Mandi under the supervision of Prof. Suman Kalyan Pal. My research has focused on the optical properties and ultrafast carrier dynamics of monolayer transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) and their alloys. Specifically, I have explored advanced phenomena such as the Mott metal-insulator transition, ultrafast carrier dynamics, spin and valley dynamics, and carrier-phonon interactions in materials like WS₂, MoS₂, and VMoSSe.
I have extensive experience in transient absorption spectroscopy, low-temperature photoluminescence, and Raman spectroscopy. Additionally, I have contributed to research on photonic crystals and random lasers, showcasing my expertise in nanoparticle synthesis and the mechanical exfoliation of 2D materials. I also have experience working with high harmonic generation setups and have built low-temperature photoluminescence and microscopic transient absorption spectroscopy systems.
